Ellie doesn't go after her because she realizes that Abby has broken the cycle of hate and she needs to be as strong as her. She leaves, with Joel shot, battered and beaten, but still alive. This triggers something in Abby and she can't bring herself to take Joel away from Ellie. WhenJoel doesn't protest, she gets angry, telling him "fuck you for taking my father, don't you sit there and act like you're better than me!" And he tells her he understands perfectly, because he's been in her shoes twice before in his life and has lost one daughter, and almost lost another. I would also be okay with her not killing him, but definitely beating him badly. It may suck but after playing as the enemy for a while and hearing and experiencing their troubles we may get a sense of empathy for them. When the end finally comes around, I would be ok with Abby killing Joel after a proper arc of character development and motivation reveals.
It makes our time spent sweet and sorrowful, savoring every moment we have with our duo before the end. In this way we get to spend more time with our duo, but know that this is coming to a close by the end. You play from Abby's perspective and Ellie, with Joel. My preferred game would have started with the whole setup of finding Joel, taking him, and then Abby taking a swing at Joel and cutting to black. I will not be buying it nor will I ever play it This game was basically a seven year long troll. There was a million better ways this could've been played out, but Druckmann literally chose the dumbest and most divisive way possible of doing it, because I guess that's what passes for acceptable nowadays. No, that's the reason we hate this fucking game. Now, after seven fucking years, we're fed this shit? Being forced to play as the murderer of said main characters we spent an entire game bonding with already? Their chemistry worked and it made for a fantastic story! No, the issue pretty much all of us have is we spent an entire game exploring Joel and Ellie's story and the people they met along the way.
Truthfully, no one really cares Abby is trans (correction, I guess she's not but the point still stands as there is a trans character in the game) Although admittedly, it's strange to see someone stacked like that in a world where food is probably pretty scarce, but that's semantics. And apparently since I have to scream this from the mountains, We all know Ellie is fucking gay. We do not fucking care that it has LGBT and other races in it, that's perfectly normal and to be expected, even in a post-apocalyptic world. Here's the thing about damn near all of us in the "TLoU2 is garbage" camp.
